1. Do Keyword Research
Most people don’t find your business by stumbling across your storefront.
Most people find your business through an online search. In fact, 85 percent of consumers use the internet to find a local business.
And this search most often starts with a user typing a phrase into a search engine. That phrase is known as a keyword phrase. Keyword phrases play a huge role in a customer discovering your business.
But, you can’t just guess at the words a customer may type in. You need to do keyword research.
Google keyword tool is the best place for keyword research.
2. Focus on Long-tail Keywords
Let’s face it, you’re world renown in your industry, you probably aren’t going to rank very high for generic keywords like “blog,” or “restaurant,” or “clothing,”.
But that’s okay, you don’t need to rank for these keywords.
Instead, you should focus on ranking for long-tail keywords (ones that are three words or more). Long-tail keywords are great for new sites because they have less competition. This gives you a better shot at increasing organic traffic.
For example, instead of trying to rank for the keyword “blog” you could try to rank for “monetising your blog.”
Pro Tip: Don’t forget- no keyword stuffing! Make sure your keywords are sprinkled in throughout the text. They should sound natural and not forced.
3. Blog about User’s Questions and Problems
No matter what kind of business you run, you surely get a lot of questions from both potential and existing clients.
So, instead of sending out short email replies to every question that get’s asked, write up a blog post instead.
For example, let’s say you own a plumbing business. One of your articles could be “5 Signs You Need to Call a Plumber Right Away.”
4. Guest Blog
If you’re wondering how to increase organic traffic, guest blogging is one of the best ways.
Guest blogging allows you to get your site in front of a new, established audience. Plus, guest blogging increases your backlinks, which has a positive impact on your SEO.
But be aware: guest blogging on low-quality sites won’t do you any favors. Be very selective about who you choose to write for.
5. Blog Regularly
When it comes to increasing traffic through blogging, consistency is key.
You need to be blogging in a consistent manner in order to see a big increase in traffic. Any lulls in blogging will send a signal to Google that you’re not working to remain relevant.
Not only that, the quality of the blog posts must be outstanding. Your posts should be unique from your competitor’s, error-free, and informative.
